What We Believe About…
The Bible
We believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of all things visible and invisible. We believe God created the universe by His Power and Word. We believe that God is all-knowing, all-powerful and ever present. Genesis 1:1; Matthew 5:16; Hebrews 11:3; James 1:17
God the Son
We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the eternal Word, the one and only Savior. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. We believe Jesus was both God and man, that He was crucified for our sins, and was bodily raised from the dead. He then ascended to His Father’s side where He is head of the church and intercedes for believers. He will return in victory to rule forever. John 1:1,14, 29; 3:16; Philippians 2:6-11; Colossians 1:15-19; 1 John 1:9
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God and has all the divine characteristics. We believe the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to apply the saving work of Christ. He convicts men of sin, of righteousness and of judgement. He regenerates their heart and then indwells them when they believe and are baptized. His ongoing work is to lead, guide and empower the believer for godly living and service.
Salvation
Communion
We take communion every week, following the example of the early church. It provides us a reminder of the foundational teachings of our faith that’s related to the death, resurrection, ascension, and promised return of Jesus. Acts 2:42; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
The Church
Scripture commands believers to gather together in local congregations for the scriptural teaching, fellowship, prayer, mutual encouragement, worship of God, and disciple-making.
We believe that the Elders of the church are the overseers of its affairs and the shepherds of its members. They are responsible for the oversight, instruction, edification, discipline, and restoration of church members.
Hebrews 10:25; 1 Peter 5:1-4; Titus 1:9, 2:1-15; Hebrews 13:7; 1 Peter 4:10; John 13:34-35; 1 Thessalonians 5:11; Hebrews 13:17; Matthew 28:18-20
